Loving Father, I thank You for the gift of priesthood in which I share. May my
life always be a reflection of Your love to those I meet. May my fidelity, joy
and fervor attract others to You. May my example of generous service lead
others to contemplate their own vocation. May my imperfections remind
others that You call imperfect men and work through them according to Your
will. Help me to recognize those You have put in my path, perhaps this very
day, who are being called to priesthood. Help me be Your ambassador to
them, a witness and an inspiration. Use me to invite others, encourage
others, and support others as they contemplate the life I have come to know
and love.
I pray for my brother priests in this great Archdiocese of Newark. Help us to
work together without fear or pessimism. May we welcome with great hope
those who may one day join us in this presbyterate of Newark.
I place before You in prayer all those priest, living and deceased, who have
most influenced and encouraged my own journey to priesthood. I place the
Church of Newark once again under the patronage of the Blessed Virgin
Mary, Our Lady of Newark, as we pary for the courage to step out in faith as
she did. We ask these things through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Almighty and eternal God,
in your unfailing love your provide
ministers for your Church.
We pray for those whom you call
to serve the Church of ___________
as priests
Inspire in them a generous response.
Grant them courage and vision to
serve your people
May their lives and service call your
people to respond to the presence
of your Spirit among us
that, faithful to the Gospel and
hope of Jesus the Christ, we may
announce glad tidings to the poor
proclaim liberty to captives,
set prisoners free
and renew the face of the earth. Amen
Gracious God,
You have called me to life
and gifted me in many ways.
Through Baptism You have sent me
to continue the mission of Jesus
by sharing my love with others.
Strengthen me to respond to
Your call each day.
Help me to become all You desire of me.
Inspire me to make a difference in
others' lives.
Lead me to choose the way of life
You have planned for me.
Open the hearts of all to listen
to Your call.
Fill all with Your Holy Spirit that
we may have listening hearts and
the courage to respond to You.
Enkindle in my heart
and the hearts of others the desire
to make the world a better place
by serving as
Lay Minister, Sister, Priest,
Brother or Deacon.
Amen.
Prayers for Vocations
Take, O Lord, and receive my entire liberty, my memory, my understanding and my whole will.
All that I am and all that I possess You have given me:
I surrender it all to You to be disposed of according to Your will.
Give me only Your love and Your grace;
with these I will be rich enough, and will desire nothing more.
